The heritage of The Destination Jeruzalem Slovenia has been preserved in many museums and museum collections that bear witness to the social, economic and political life of the locals.
The programe of the guided experience:
RAILWAY MUSEUM
How and where railway travel began 160 years ago is beautifully illustrated in the railway museum in Osluševci. The old railway station was turned into a museum and learning center of railway history. A wagon from 1926 takes you into the past of the iron road in The Destination Jeruzalem Slovenia, where it is shown how the railway was important for the economic, agricultural, cultural and tourist development of this area.
CELLAR AND OLD HOUSE OF THE BRUMEN FAMILY AS MUSEUM
It is the only representative old house built from wooden logs, the walls are plastered from the outside and inside with clay mixed with straw. The house is covered with straw. The floor in the house is made of compacted clay, also some old bricks and wooden planks. The kitchen and storeroom with farming tools that were the property of their ancestors have been preserved. The house and cellar are at least 255 years old and show how people used to live here centuries ago.
LUNCH
The local lunch will consist of two soups, types of meat, side dishes, salad and dessert. You will taste dishes, which signifies the highest quality of the The Destination Jeruzalem Slovenia and have obtained the quality certificate of the Collective Brand Jeruzalem Slovenia.
FIREFIGHTING MUSEUM
You can learn about the history of the fire department and the local fire brigade of Miklavž pri Ormož in the beautifully arranged museum collection, which offers rich photographic and archival material. Many objects bear witness to the devoted volunteerism of local firemen and women. The largest collection of motor pumps in Styria is presented, one even dating back to 1888. On display are uniforms, medals, awards, philately in the fire service, fire postcards, and the books of firefighting societies.
WINE TASTING
Destination Jeruzalem Slovenia is a wine country, so it is necessary to try wines that belongs the 5 % of the best wine regions in the world. You will taste 4 wines (cheese and bread) and the wine tasting will be held in one of the wine houses, which signifies the highest quality of The Destination Jeruzalem Slovenia and have obtained the quality certificate of the Collective Brand of Jeruzalem Slovenia.
PTUJ-ORMOŽ MUSEUM, ORMOŽ CASTLE AND CASTLE MANOR
In Castle manor, there is an archaeological exhibition on display, which testifies that people lived in this area about 4,500 years ago. Many exhibit items, mostly from the classicist era, are well preserved. The beginnings of the castle date back to the 13th century. Over the centuries, the castle has been rebuilt by different owners. The castle got its present shape in the 19th century. The castle has a collection of small objects (clocks, jukeboxes), tapestries and historical exhibitions. The 3 m thick walls of the castle tower will surprise you.
